I hear all the time the phrase "there are no great values in Burgundy". Ordinarily that is true but sometimes you have 2021 Domaine Collotte Marsannay Blanc in your glass. Wow! I have tasted many Grand Cru Burgundy that can't hold a candle to this wine. Let me know what you think.

From Peter Weygandt: "It was at the 2005 Grand Jours de Bourgogne that I was looking for excellent Burgundies at equally excellent value. Marsannay came to mind as a good candidate, but aside from a couple of wellknown producers, I was disappointed in the quality of many. That is until I came upon Philippe Collotte. A tall, quiet man, looking a bit like Gary Cooper, but with a lot of passion to make superb wines just waiting to be unleashed. Producing lower yields, more selection before and at harvest, de-stemmed fruit, and for us he bottles everything unfiltered. His Bourgogne parcel was planted in 1947 and there are 4 parcels of 50 + year vines in his super-value Marsannay VV. The deep, rich wines produced by Philippe Collotte are some of the best kept secrets in our portfolio."

Shows excellent ripeness and generosity with complex barrel ferment characters and wonderful finesse and detail on the palate. Brilliant. Comes from 20-40+ year vines in 3 different terroirs of Les Etalles, En Blungey and Le Poiset and is raised 50% in oak barrels (10% new) and 50% in stainless steel. It has ripe and citrusy aromas with hints of peach skin and dried apricot. The palate has surprising richness and generosity opening with touches of dried mango and pear skin, fine acidity with long fresh finish.
