Chateau Prieure Lichine started out as a priory for Benedictine monks. These monks produced Bordeaux wine for dinner and religious ceremonies, Like many estates during the French Revolution, Prieure Lichine was seized, split up and sold. In 1789 parts of Prieure Lichine were bought by numerous surrounding Châteaux in the Margaux appellation. Since that time, Chateau Prieure Lichine has sold wine under several different names including La Prieuré and Prieuré-Cantenac.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Prieure-Lichine offers up notes of fresh redcurrants, blackcurrant pastilles, boysenberries and dried Provence herbs, plus wafts of tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers a great intensity of pure black and red fruit flavors, framed by grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long with a refreshing herbal lift.
