Winemaker Notes

Deep garnet-ruby in color, the 2018 Knights Valley Reserve invites with deep aromas of black cherries and kirsch lifted with a touch of blue flowers and mint. Concentrated flavors of black currant, blackberries and cassis coat the palate with notes of warm spices, vanilla and mocha. This is a bold Cabernet richly textured with polished tannins, focused in crushed dark fruit, and underlain with a fine tension that extends the long, earthy finish.

Wine Enthusiast 92

This is an elegantly structured and refined wine, full-bodied in style, with 20 months of barrel aging in French oak, a little more than half of it new. Black currant, black cherry and cassis combine around integrated tannin and lasting notes of sage and leather.

Jeb Dunnuck 94

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley Reserve is a beauty and is all Cabernet brought up in 51% new French oak, which is on the lower end for this estate. Its deep purple color is followed by a classic, nicely structured Knights Valley Cabernet with lots of savory red and black fruits, loamy earth, tobacco leaf, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. With beautiful richness and mid-palate depth, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length.

James Suckling 95

Baked-blueberry, spiced-cherry, praline and vanilla aromas. Some gravel and pine undertones. It’s full-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Creamy and supple with seamless fruit and hazelnut layers. Sleek and polished tannins.
