Winery Notes

The Fattoria La Lecciaia was purchased by Mauro Pacini in 1983, and then transformed and equipped with the most advanced techniques of winemaking to create what is now an Azienda Agricola which is young but which follows the ancient traditions of Brunello di Montalcino. Situated in the locality of Vallafrico at the border with the oldest and most prestigious farms in Montalcino, where the particular location, the soil texture and the quality of the microclimate in the past have allowed the birth of the prestigious Brunello wine. It stretches for 60 hectares including woods, olive groves and 15 hectares of vineyards, of which more than half are for the production of Brunello. The rest are dedicated to the production of other wines with structure, character and exceptional flavor.

Very attractive aromas of cherries and currants with subtle cedar, mahogany and floral character, following through to a full body with a deep center palate of fruit and creamy, refined tannins that carry through the beautiful finish. Succulent and wonderful. I like the minerally undertone to it. Try after 2023.

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra is a pretty and understated effort. Wild strawberries, roses, mulling spice and a hint of cedar create a wonderfully nuanced display. Very much like the nose, its palate focuses more on purity and feminine grace than texture or power, showing notes of wild berry and tart cherry with salty mineral tones. Refined to the last, this finishes classically dry and structured with inner florals and just a hint of brown spice. I’m very interested to see how the Vigna Manapetra will evolve with a few years of cellaring.
