Description
Multilayered, elegant nose. Lovely structure on the palate with fleshy tannins and a long finish.
Based in the Village of Cussac Lanessan sits on the border of St, Julien and the Haut-Médoc. Lanessan counts the famed Chateaux Gruaud Larose and Beychevelle as its neighbors. By quirk of history, the chateau never sent samples to be considered in the 1855 classification and has since labored in the shadows of its famed neighbors. This historical accident translates into a great value from Bordeaux!. The Lanessan vineyard has belonged to a succession of eight generations of the Bouteiller family and is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux. This estate covers more than 350 hectares, including 85 hectares of vines. Architect Henri Duphot finished construction work on the present Chateau. Its neo-classical style is inspired by Tudor influences. The winemaking cellar was also built.

Currant, lead pencil and fresh rose-petal aromas follow through to a full body, round and nicely chewy tannins and a long finish. Balanced and polished. Drink in 2022.

This is an ambitious take on 2016, pushing the vintage but successfully so, going for a cerebral 2010 feel rather than the generosity of 2009. Classic liquorice and slate, tight cassis fruits and an extremely well paced delivery of fresh tight tannins lead into a gorgeous, lifted juicy fruit finish. From a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. I like this a lot.
