An elegant and expressive red wine crafted by the Rose family from estate-grown fruit along the Wairau Valley. The wine opens with bright aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, accented by hints of violets, baking spice, and a touch of oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and supple, showing juicy red fruit flavors balanced by fine tannins and a gentle earthiness. Aged for about nine months in French oak barriques, mostly older barrels, it retains purity and freshness while gaining subtle texture and spice. The finish is long and silky, driven by lively acidity that adds lift and precision. With an alcohol level around 13.5%, this Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, roasted pork, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto. It is a graceful and balanced expression of Marlborough’s cool-climate character.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 89
“The 2023 Pinot Noir is supple, spicy and straightforward, with pomegranate, raspberry pip, mint and cherries. There’s rose petal character on the mid‑palate followed by scraped vanilla pod, and the finish is defined by acidity and tannin…”
The Tasting Panel 93
“Arousing, earthy aromas lead to a glassy mouthfeel. Notes of root beer, sweet tobacco, and iconic forest floor are approachable and luscious within a savory frame. New leather is dotted with cloves, basil, and rosemary. It finishes with sandalwood and the sensuousness of damp soil that Pinot Noir is wont to express.”
