Winemaker Notes

On his home estate in hilly Charnay in the southern Beaujolais, Jean-Paul Brun started planting Chardonnay in 1983 on the sandy clay-limestone soils. The farming is organic and harvest is by hand. The bunches are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts and without sulfur in concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally and the lees are stirred periodically. The wine is aged in steel and concrete and bottled in the spring after harvest with a light, non-sterile filtration and minimal sulfur.

The vines are organically farmed and the fruit harvested by hand. The grapes are destemmed, crushed and fermented with natural yeasts in vat. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation, its lees stirred periodically, and is aged in steel and concrete tank until bottling in the spring after the vintage; a minimal amount of sulfur is applied at the end of ML and at bottling

Decanter 93

Succulent nectarine and juicy red delicious apple flavours with each sip. A rich and ripe mouthfeel bursting with fruit intensity, balanced with a lively citrus zing. Long finish on a salty note.
