Description

The 2010 Ridge Lytton Estate Syrah is a limited-production Rhône-style wine from Ridge Vineyards, crafted exclusively from estate-grown fruit in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County. Produced using Ridge's traditional winemaking philosophy and sustainable viticulture practices, this wine highlights the purity and complexity of cool-climate California Syrah.

The 2010 vintage is composed of 91% Syrah and 9% Viognier, co-fermented in the traditional Northern Rhône style to enhance aromatic expression and texture. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, violet, cracked black pepper, smoked meat, olive tapenade, and baking spice lead into a rich palate layered with dark fruit, savory herbs, mineral notes, and fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity and exceptional balance provide a long, elegant finish and excellent aging potential.

Only 42 barrels were produced. According to Ridge, the cool 2010 growing season resulted in slow ripening and concentrated fruit, producing a beautifully structured Syrah that will continue to develop gracefully with cellaring.
