Produced at Castello di Montepò in southern Tuscany, Schidione represents Jacopo Biondi Santi’s contemporary vision, distinct from the historic Brunello lineage of the family. The 2019 vintage, presented here in magnum format, reflects the warmth and balance of the growing season with structure and composure.
A blend centered on Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wine opens with layered aromas of black cherry, plum, cedar, and tobacco, framed by dried Mediterranean herbs and a subtle graphite nuance. The palate is broad yet controlled, with polished tannins supporting dense dark fruit. Oak integration is evident but disciplined, contributing texture rather than dominance.
The 2019 shows both depth and architectural precision, with a persistent finish marked by dark spice and mineral tension. The magnum format will favor extended evolution, allowing further harmony and complexity to develop over time. A structured and modern expression of Toscana IGT from Italy.
