The 2023 Grape Abduction Rosé is a refreshing, playful bottle with just enough edge to keep you coming back for more. Hailing from the cooler slopes of Stajerska in northeastern Slovenia, this wine is made from Žametna Črnina (also known as Black Velvet) and other local grapes that thrive in the region’s Alpine-continental climate.
In the glass, it pours a bright, vibrant pink with a slight haze unfiltered and intentionally raw. On the nose, it’s a burst of wild strawberries, sour cherry, pink grapefruit, and crushed herbs, with a subtle floral note that floats just beneath the surface.
The palate is dry and zippy, with refreshing acidity and low alcohol (typically around 11%). It leans natural without being funky...think crisp watermelon rind, tart cranberry, and a stony minerality that anchors the finish. There's a gentle spritz when first opened, adding lift and levity.
