This has long been one of my 'insider picks' for the whites of Bordeaux and it is successful again this year, although a little more concentrated than in some years, with bitter almond hints on the finish. Majors on sculpted fruits and gentle citrus flavours.

The 2020 Château de Cruzeau Blanc has a perfumed nose of yellow plum, nectarine and honeysuckle scents and hints of Swiss roll, all quite irresistible. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity; crisp red apple and orange zest intermingle with pithy pear notes toward the finish. This is a delicious Pessac-Léognan in the making.
