Description

Intense cassis blackcurrant fruit with hints of pencil shavings, vanilla and flint. The palate has similar brambly fruit with cedar, spice, and a salty, granular minerality supporting a silky mouthfeel with bright fruit acidity and fresh firm tannins. The lasting finish has fresh sappy notes, more flinty minerality and hints of bitter chocolate.

Tasting Notes
The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon starts out with savory aromas of blackberry, dark plum, blood orange, Star Anise and black cherry. As the wine opens, deep fruit favors of blackberry cobbler, dried cherry, pomegranate, cassis and milk chocolate begin to show. The palate is rich and inviting with framed tannins, incredible length and plenty of concentration.

The base appellation 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley shows the more elegant yet also tannic side to the vintage, giving up lots of red and black currant fruits, medium to full body, building, chewy yet ripe tannins, solid mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. This classic Alexander Valley Cabernet is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for 15+.

Composed of 98.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1.5% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 38% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it delivers notes of warm cassis, baked plums and warm red currants with nuances of dried herbs, garrigue and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, grainy texture supporting the generous black and red fruits with beautiful freshness, finishing long with a lively lift. 5,500 cases were made.
