The 2010 Genium Celler Ecologic from Genium Celler in the Priorat DOCa is a mature, organically made red from one of Spain’s most powerful and mineral-driven appellations. Priorat is characterized by steep slate-rich hills that give wines concentration, density, and a distinct savory mineral streak.

After more than a decade in bottle, a well kept example usually shows evolved dark fruit such as plum and blackberry moving toward dried fruit, leather, earth, and smoked spice. The slate and minerality typical of Priorat provide a firm backbone beneath the rich core, while the fruit, savory layers, and integrated tannins give the wine depth and nuance.
